Do I have to have my own cooler?

No. We sell styrofoam containers and protective gloves if you do not bring your own cooler or gloves.

How long will dry ice last?

Ten pounds of dry ice will last approximately one day in our insulated coolers, with the cover seated in place. Please choose from the different forms of dry ice we sell.

What's the least amount of dry ice I can buy?

Dry ice is sold in 10 lb quantities or more.

Can I pick up dry ice with my bare hands?

No.  Never touch dry ice with your bare hands.  You must wear gloves to handle dry ice and follow safety precautions.  We sell gloves if you do not bring them when you pick up your dry ice.

Is dry ice sold in cubes like regular ice?

No. Dry ice is normally sold in pellets or blocks. We sell many different varieties of dry ice - the most common for small projects are cut blocks and pellets.

Is dry ice safe to eat?

No.  We recommend that you NEVER eat dry ice and that you NEVER use dry ice directly in drinks.   Dry ice can form tiny needle-like shards in liquids which are extremely dangerous.  To use dry ice with beverages, see our section on dry ice punch [in a witch's cauldron] and ALWAYS safety precautions.

Using Dry Ice Safely

Before you purchase dry ice, please read our dry ice safety precautions.

Remember that the temperature of dry ice is -109º F, cold enough to freeze skin cells and cause a permanent injury similar to a burn. Always handle dry ice with protective gloves or a towel. Never put dry ice in your mouth. Dry ice gives off CO2 into the air. So if dry ice has been in a closed car, van, or room for more than 10 minutes, open the doors and windows before entering. Otherwise, you will experience difficulty breathing. Leave the area immediately if you start to breathe quickly or have any difficulty breathing.
