LCO2 MapLiquid Carbon Dioxide - LCO2

What is LCO2?

Continental Carbonic plants have the capacity to liquefy over 1,000 tons per day of carbon dioxide gas. Liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) is the feed-stock for manufacturing dry ice and is used for a wide variety of other applications.

While the majority of the LCO2 produced in Continental's plants is converted to dry ice [see What is Dry Ice], we have a number of accounts that rely on us for liquid CO2 product. Our fleet of specialized LCO2 tank trucks delivers liquid carbon dioxide around the clock to a variety of customers for a variety of applications, including:

  • Refrigeration and freezing in food processing and production
  • Shield gas in welding applications to prevent weld oxidation
  • pH balance in water treatment plants
  • LCO2 fire suppression systems
  • Plant growth stimulation in greenhouses
  • Enhanced oil recovery of stripper oil wells by maintaining pressure in geologic formations
